United Methodist Women: Bessie Gunter Circle

For ladies ages 16-70.

UMW or United Methodist Women is for women high school age and up. They are currently split into the Bessie Gunter Circle for the younger crowd, and the Hannah Meadors Circle for the more mature ladies. This group has often been called the "backbone of the church," and is known for its mission work, fellowship, and for being true disciples in the church and the community.

The ladies of the Bessie Gunter Circle meet on the the third Thursday of every month at a member's home. Please call the church office at 770-483-4338 for the location and directions to this month's meeting.

At each meeting there is fun, fellowship, and good food! The ladies share prayer concerns, discuss upcoming projects, have devotionals, and of course have lots of entertaining conversations.

In the past, they have provided meals for the men at Trinity House, worked at Atlanta Soup Kitchen, collected art supplies for the Children's Home, made quilts for homeless children, and collected toys and other goodies for a family in need at Christmas time. There are many projects currently in the works, including collecting food for the Rockdale Food Bank, and making gift baskets for the church's shut-ins.

The official purpose of the United Methodist Women is to know God and to experience freedom through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church

The ladies of the Bessie Gunter Circle would like to say to anyone interested in coming, "Our group consists of fun-loving ladies who care for each other and the community around us. Please drop by one evening and see what we are all about!"
