UMW or United Methodist Women is for women high school age and up. They are currently split into the Bessie Gunter Circle for the younger crowd, and the Hannah Meadors Circle for the more mature ladies. This group has often been called the "backbone of the church," and is known for its mission work, fellowship, and for being true disciples in the church and the community.

Basic Information
The Hannah Meadors Circle meets every 3rd Monday of the month at 10:30am in the Fellowship Hall. At each meeting there are programs on missions.

Please contact Vice President Mary Morrison at marywmorrison@aol.com for more information about this group.

The Purpose of the United Methodist Women
The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose Purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

Beginning History
In the early years of women’s mission organizations, the focus was on sending missionaries and helping to change the lives of women and girls in foreign lands. The Women’s Foreign Missionary Society was formed in Boston, MA at the Tremont Methodist Episcopal Church. Isabella Thoburn and Clara Swain were sent to India in November 1869, as the society’s first missionaries on a mere "offering of pennies".

Today
We must continue the journey begun more than a century ago by our faithful and courageous foremothers. United Methodist Women members have much to celebrate today by raising millions of dollars for mission effort in The United Methodist Church.

Our Pledge
Today I pledge my prayers, as a reminder that every good and perfect gift comes from God. I pledge my time, that I may respond to human need through study, action, and reflection. I pledge my financial gifts, to continue the legacy of sisters in Christ initiating the global ministries of the church through United Methodist Women.
